Who am I
Hello, my name is Jabu Dlamini I come from Swaziland, Southern Africa. I am a senior, Bachelor in International Business and management, student at Ming Chuan University. “As marketers our aim is to sell the sizzle not the stake”-Michael Porter, it was when I read this quote six years ago that I first truly became interested in the marketing profession and its role in business. A week before starting the internship I would have said my goal was to work for or run a successful brand management company. However, after a single class at Enspyre and reading the recommended book “The Four Hour Work Week”, my entire perspective has changed. I now desire to own such a company and have the freedom to let it run itself but to do this I need to have more skills concerning this profession, internet marketing is just one part of it…albeit a major part.
Why Enspyre and my Expectations
It’s undeniable that the internet plays a vital role in business today and nowhere is Porter’s statement more prevalent than on the net, for the mere reason that goods cannot be sampled/touched via this media. Marketers have to take center stage when it comes to promoting goods over the net. The internship at Enspyre provides us with the opportunity to learn the necessary skills to provide value to potential future employers. I hope that the understanding and lessons I will acquire from the internship will empower me to start-up my own internet business. I have read and studied business and marketing theory for 6 years (Commerce Diploma and Pending IBM degree) I now need to understand how these theories can be applied in real life.
